The Industry Facility is a forum for directing and multiplying the impact of private sector funding towards credible and effective sustainable development, in locations around the globe where the extractive (oil, gas and mining) and infrastructure industries operate.

The Industry Facility was set up at the request of the extractive industry, as part of the response to the World Bank Extractive Industry Review and the Equator Principles.

Modus Operandi

The Industry Facility operates as a think tank and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas between the private sector, the non-profit world, governments and multilaterals.

Sustainable development initiatives are commissioned by individual members or consortia of members in relation to their individual priority needs, however each sponsor agrees to contribute lessons learned and best practices to a global knowledge pool, available to all members.

The Global Institute for Sustainable Development, the Financial Intelligence service and the Media/Communications service will remain independent of one another and of the Industry Facility, the linkage being assured through a series of collaboration agreements.
