The Industry Facility aims to steer development impulses, created by the presence of the extractive industry, towards a sustainable path by aligning stakeholders, building local capacity to lead the implementation of sustainable development programs and by helping local communities to adopt best practices from around the globe.

The end result should be the induction of a self-sustaining economic model that is diversified and not wholly dependent on the extractive economy.
 
The Industry Facility will offer its members access to three core capabilities:
 

 

  • A technical network of networks aimed at capturing and disseminated best sustainability practices; The Global Institute for Sustainable Development (GISD)

 

  • A financial intelligence service that seeks to leverage seed funding from the IF membership and helps community-led organizations to develop financial management capabilities

 

  • A media and communications service that brings recognition to members and other stakeholders for their contributions to the communities with which they interface.
     
 
The Industry Facility’s core capabilities are built in part on experiences, relationships and processes developed over 20 years, within the award-winning NGO:
